Argon Electronics was visited by a UK government minister at the world leading Defence and Security Event International 2013. Philip Dunne MP, Minister for Defence Equipment Support and Technology, met with Steven Pike, Managing Director, Argon Electronics, at the DSEI as a show of support for UK SMEs, which he believes should get a bigger slice of the UK defence spending pie. Mr Dunne’s visit underlined the UK’s Government commitment to SMEs who work in the defence and security sector. Their participation at DSEI demonstrated Argon’s status as a global provider of CBRN response simulators that enhance the quality and efficiency of CBRN response training.

The UK Police National CBRN centre at Ryton deployed a range of Argon simulators to support a major chemical terrorism exercise staged at the ICC Convention centre in Birmingham on 15^th August.

Argon will be demonstrating how its extensive range of CBRN response simulators enhance the quality and efficiency of CBRN response training at the XVIth International CBRN Symposium.

Governments, armed forces and civil authorities are increasingly devoting time and budgets to obtaining equipment and training personnel to respond to CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) / HazMat (Hazardous Materials) dangers both accidental and deliberate.  

While terrorist threats have raised the risk, our need to establish greater sustainability in energy production has strengthened the cause of nuclear power, another source of potential danger that fire fighters and military CBRN response forces must be prepared for.  Even incidents such as Fukushima have done little to quell the appetite for nuclear power.  

A survey conducted in the wake of Fukushima revealed a perhaps surprisingly relaxed attitude to the on-going presence of nuclear power stations.  The results gathered from customers of metals and manufacturing company Luvata established that almost half of the respondents felt nuclear fission was safe and that it is public education on the technology, not decommissioning of power plants, that is required to allay fears about the nuclear industry.  Either way, nuclear power and its risks are here for some time to come.

Bruker Daltronic has granted world-leading CBRN simulation systems manufacturer Argon Electronics the worldwide exclusive rights to develop and manufacture a training simulator for the high performance Bruker RAID-M100 chemical detector.

UK-based CBRN training system specialist Argon Electronics has delivered a substantial sensor simulation contract that will enhance the British Armed Forces CBRN response capability.

Argon Electronics continues to expand its CBRN training options with the release of the Thermo Scientific FH 40 G-SIM, a simulation instrument that replicates exactly the look, feel and functionality of the real FH 40 G digital survey meter.  The FH 40 G-SIM is designed for safe and efficient CBRN/HazMat training, with its capability being extended further when used with Argon’s PlumeSIM system, which enables instructors to create highly realistic virtual exercises in the classroom as well as live field exercises.

Argon Electronics has enabled the London Fire Brigade to significantly improve the quality of its CBRN response training by supplying the service with its state-of-the-art CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear) simulation training technology.

Our Sales Manager, Patrick Hickmott, was recently invited to attend the transfer ceremony of the German armed forces’ CBRN Defence Corps to the Joint Support Service and the inauguration of the Bundeswehr CBRN Defence Command, which took place on the 23rd of April in Bruchsal.
