What is your role at Argon and what areas are you responsible for?

I am the Business Development Manager, responsible for our business development activities for the Rest of the World, which is every country except for US and Canada. This means I travel a lot in my job, as I cover the UK, mainland Europe, Middle East and Asia. Before I joined Argon, I worked in the defence industry in the ballistics sector.

Where are you seeing most demand for Argon’s products and services right now?

Regionally speaking, Europe, the Middle East, and some Asian countries are active nowadays, driven by the global context of security concerns and geopolitical tensions. Although Eastern Europe would be expected to have a similar engagement, we’ve seen more limitations for our customers in that region due to budget allocation and how they set their priorities, which is very concerning due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and how likely is to face a chemical or radiological threat. Then, we are dealing with customers in South Korea and Southeast Asia due to geopolitical tensions.

“ I want to increase global awareness of the products we offer to the first responder, civilian agencies and oil and gas sectors.”

What are your main goals and targets at the moment?

One of our main challenges as a company is the lack of sense of urgency when it comes to CBRN training. Protecting a country from a CBRN emergency raises a critical question: how effectively can the country respond when faced with a real-life CBRN threat? Human factor training, decision-making, and coordination plays a pivotal role in ensuring that personnel can operate equipment effectively, execute plans efficiently, and adapt to such incidents dynamic and high-pressure nature. Without comprehensive training and preparation, even the most advanced technology cannot guarantee an adequate response. Therefore, my main goal is to continue growing that sense of urgency by showcasing how the current training methodologies are far from getting the necessary results, and that the need for simulators is critical to prepare the response units.

A secondary goal right now is to grow the business in the countries and sectors where we have yet to gain a significant foothold. I want to increase global awareness of the products we offer to the first responders, civilian agencies and oil and gas sectors. It is not always easy to engage with these types of customers because most of them have their independent budget and control over their training capabilities and what to procure, making it hard to reach out to each of them. Therefore, we need to have the right partners in each country that have the capabilities to do so.

“ It is hard to find another company that provides a similar solution, quite so effectively.”

Do you provide training for all Argon products?

That’s an interesting question as the concept of what we provide as our product offering is quite innovative and might be misperceived. We don’t sell training in itself. What we do offer are training simulation systems that provide a holistic training solution, as it is easy to handle, convenient, there is a very low ownership cost, it is very realistic and requires non-certification or any sort of environmental accreditation. It provides a training solution for teams to train how, when and where it is needed.

Will Argon continue to grow its global presence?

We are actively seeking to grow and expand our presence in several different countries. In particular, we need to provide solutions to the countries that are living directly and indirectly in conflicts and geopolitical tensions. Also, we have plans to release new products that will allow us to continue improving CBRN preparedness by providing new technological solutions.

What makes Argon unique?

Our strengths lie in the capabilities of our products and how realistic our simulators are in replicating the required threat scenario. It is hard to find another company that provides a similar solution quite so effectively. We have very strong ties with most companies that manufacture CBRN detectors so we can create a highly realistic simulator with high fidelity, enhancing training in all the key areas and sectors I have mentioned above.

Think about how useful and safe a training platform can be if it replicates what a real threat looks like, in which people can experience realistic conditions without being exposed to real threats such as radiation or chemical weapons. Imagine how people would feel knowing there is a way in which training can be held anywhere, whenever and however they want, without compromising neither their safety, their loved ones or the community at all. Now, include the reduction in the ownership cost, the environmental benefit, and access to a wide variety of technologies into this equation. That is a very hard thing to do, and when we’re in the field demonstrating our equipment, customers are routinely impressed and astonished with what our equipment can do.
