Argon Announces New Alpha/Beta Probe for RDS SIM Training System

Laura Wells

Argon Electronics is proud to announce the launch of our new Alpha/Beta Simulation Probe, designed for use with the RDS AN/PDR-83-SIM  SIM base unit. This innovative simulator probe expands our radiation training capability by enabling the realistic simulation of alpha and beta surface contamination detection—without the need for real radioactive sources.

Building on the success of our Beta Photon Probe, the new Alpha/Beta Probe allows instructors to deliver comprehensive, hands-on training across a wider range of radiological scenarios. Trainees can now experience authentic probe responses during contamination surveys, decontamination exercises, and cross-contamination checks, all within a completely safe and controlled environment.

Fully compatible with existing RDS AN/PDR-83-SIM SIM system and Argon’s integrated simulation network, including PlumeSIM, the Alpha/Beta Probe offers unmatched flexibility, realism, and safety for CBRN, HazMat, and radiation safety training.

Additional probes are in development and will be released over the coming months, further expanding the capabilities of Argon's RDS AN/PDR-83-SIM SIM system.
