Civil Chemical HazMat PlumeSIM and CBRN PlumeSIM
PlumeSIM is the latest innovation in simulation training systems from Argon Electronics. It has been specifically designed to enable instrumented detector training to be provided as a table top exercise, in a classroom or over an extended geographical area for collective training whilst complementing the benefits already provided by our individual simulation instruments. Rapid, easy deployment is a key feature of the system.
PlumeSIM enables remote instructor management from a single location of Argon's chemical and radiological simulator instruments in real time within fully configurable 'virtual plumes' including hot spots and deposition. Player locations and movements are indicated in on screen using almost any user configured mapping whilst a sophisticated data logging system provides valuable after action review..
The heart of the system is a single portable Base Control Centre (BCC), from which CBR exercise scenarios can be rapidly created and controlled in real time. An electronic map of the area in which the exercise is to be conducted is selected by the instructor and loaded onto a laptop. 'Home made' sketch maps can also be used.
The type of source is selected from drop down menus, and variables such as the amount of substance, its identification, concentration, method of release (including height of ejection for explosive dispersals), and duration of release are entered as desired. Selection of the desired environmental conditions is made from pre-programmed parameters that include insolation, ambient air temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation.
Upon commencement of the exercise, a simulated plume is manually extended over the on-screen map. This can be suspended, restarted and repeated as required. As the plume reaches the location of the individuals and fixed deployed simulators, subject to the correct preparation of the simulator by the student, and the type and concentration of the selected agent, the simulator will display the appropriate alarm indication. Where conditions make it impossible to maintain constant radio contact the scenario can also be downloaded directly to the player unit / simulator prior to the exercise.
Movement by the student (or appropriately equipped vehicles) into and out of areas of simulated contamination are recorded by the system and enable subsequent decontamination training to be performed appropriate to the level of simulated agent encountered. The instructor may at any time cause the simulation instrument to display fault warnings such as low battery messages. All instrument interventions by the operator are transmitted to the instructor in real time or recorded locally for after action review.
HazMatPlumeSIM is a fully featured system within the PlumeSIM family, dedicated to users of HazMat detection, identification and monitoring instruments. It will enable simultaneous use of chemical and radiological detection simulators with combinations of virtual radiation and chemical 'hotspots' and/or plumes with deposition marking, and is ideally suited for
* Trainers of emergency service first responders to HazMat incidents.
* Industrial safety instructors who are responsible for training private commercial safety personnel in the correct use of detection instruments.
CBRNPlumeSIM provides a comprehensive portfolio of CBRN hazards for instructors to create single or multiple CBRN agent release scenarios. It will enable simultaneous use of multiple types of CBRN detection simulators with combinations of virtual radiation and chemical ‘hotspots’ and/or plumes with deposition marking, and is intended for use by
* Trainers of emergency service first responders to CBRN incidents.
* Civil Defence organisations with CBRN response mandates.
