Chemical and Hazmat simulation - Concept of simulation

Our technology uses a mix of ultrasound and electromagnetic to simulate the hazard. In this section we provide an overview of each technology. Ultrasound sources are used for long range vapour release simulation, electromagnetic source as used for local contamination simulation and confidence test simulation.

HAZMAT SIMULATION SOURCE
Down wind vapour simulation:

Ultrasound sources are used to simulate down wind vapour. The simulated vapour source has nine digitally adjustable power levels enabling detection from 1.5 to 30 metres (approx 1.2 to 32 yards) and a signal spread of 40 degrees. The use of ultrasound means varying wind conditions result in a realistic variation of detector readings at lower concentrations.

Each D cell powered source can be user programmed to represent one of 32 substances. Two seperate frequency bands permit up to 64 substances to be simulated in any one exercise, enabling CW agents, Toxic Industrial substances, false positives and depleted oxygen to be simulated.

The ultrasound simulation sources can be used in the open, or within confined spaces. The sources can be hidden under or within vehicles to simulate local or gross contamination, or within containers to simulate hidden or improvised devices.

If you hide the source within a cupboard or room and close the door, you will detect simulated vapour seeping through the gaps. The same occurs if the source is hidden in a vehicle and a window left slightly open.

You can also hide the sources within suitable containers for search and Chemical EOD training. Careful placement under earth or sand can simulate off gas from the ground.

HAZMAT SIMULATION SOURCE
Point surface contamination sources:

The electromagnetic sources can be hidden under clothing, within footwear or behind almost any non conductive surface to simulate surface contaminants. They can also be hidden beneath earth or sand to simulate very small areas of contamination.

Two sets of simulation sources are provided, permitting the simulation of two seperate personal contaminents. The sources derive their power from the simulator, and do not require any form of battery.

Detection range is 3 to 4 Cms ( approx 1.5 inches)for the low power sources (ideal for hiding within protective gloves) and 8 to 9 Cms (approx 3.5 inches) for the high power sources.

CBRN confidence test
Simulation confidence tester:

Where appropriate, each simulator is supplied with a simulation confidence tester. In the picture you can see typical examples of simulation confidence testers.

NBC Instructor remote
Instructor control - standard version:

A powerful instructor control enables you to simulate partial and full decontamination, the effects of wind during contamination monitoring, low battery and simulation of detector faults.

Decontamination is simulated under complete control of the instructor. This means the student will only experience complete decontamination if the instructor wishes, otherwise a residue will be detected by the simulator. Because simulated contamination is electronic, water mixed with a little detergent can be used as the decontaminant.

CBRN INSTRUCTOR CONTROLLER
Instructor control - PDA version:

In addition to the features of the standard instructor controller, the PDA based controller provides the ability to control groups of simulators and indicate student errors in real time.

Student error reporting:

Perhaps one of the most powerful features of our simulators. The doctrine relating to the correct use of the real detector is incorporated within the simulator. Student use of the simulator is then compared with this doctrine, and any deviation recorded for later after action review. These errors are reported in real time with the PDA based instructor control.

Cost of ownership:

All of our simulators are designed not to require any form of preventative maintenance or regular callibration, so you can be assured of very low ongoing cost of ownership.
